Son of an accountant and a mailman, Lawrence was born in Hacienda Heights, California, destined to follow in his parents' footsteps as a doctor, specifically a pediatrician. However, his mother's insistence on him learning musical instruments as a child unexpectedly sparked a passion for the arts and an innate curiosity for the realm of imagination.
Throughout his academic journey, Lawrence's artistic inclinations continued to flourish as he pursued a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Theater at the University of California, Irvine. This newfound outlet for self-expression led him to participate in the popular reality television show MTV's America's Best Dance Crew alongside Kaba Modern.
Upon graduating, Lawrence further honed his theater skills by collaborating with esteemed theater companies, including the award-winning Guthrie Theater, East West Players, South Coast Repertory, and San Diego Repertory. He is currently a member of the renowned dance crew The Kinjaz.
Lawrence's impressive credits include a range of notable projects, such as the hit television series The Walking Dead, Sleepy Hollow, NCIS: New Orleans & Los Angeles, The Originals, Honey 4, Circle, Hawaii 5-0, The Purge, Law & Order: SVU, and various independent films produced from the trunk of his car. Fans can now catch him as Tommy Wah, a series regular, in the Netflix original series Wu Assassins.
