Ethan Embry was born on July 8, 1965, in Ivoryton, Connecticut. He is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. His brother, Chris Tergesen, is a music supervisor and music editor. Embry has been married three times and is currently married to Yuko Otomo, an art therapist, whom he wed in 2011. The couple has a daughter, Lily, born in 2012.
Early Career:
Embry began his acting career while working as a waiter in New York. He landed his first major movie roles in Point Break (1991),Wayne's World (1992),and Wayne's World 2 (1993). In 1993, he played a recurring character, Chris Thormann, on Homicide: Life on the Street. The following year, he secured a starring role as Chett Donnelly on Weird Science, a role he held until 1998.
Notable Roles:
In 1997, Embry landed a starring role as Tobias Beecher on HBO's Oz, a role he played until 2003. Since Oz, he has appeared mostly on television, with recurring or starring roles on various shows, including Rescue Me, Wanted, Desperate Housewives, Generation Kill, Army Wives, The Big C, Red Widow, Longmire, The Americans, Alpha House, and American Horror Story.
Film Career:
After the Wayne's World movies, Embry has appeared in films such as Shaft (2000),Monster (2003),The Forgotten (2004),The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006),Silver Tongues (2011),Red Tails (2012),and The Collection (2012).
Commercial Work:
Embry has also had a successful career in commercials. His iconic "I love you, man!" line from Wayne's World was used in Budweiser's beer commercials. He provided the voice-over for Advil's commercials between 2003-2004 and for Ally Bank's "People Sense" ad campaign between 2011-2012.
