Lino Guanciale was born on May 21, 1979, in Avezzano, Italy. He graduated from the Accademia d'arte drammatica "Silvio d'Amico" in 2003, winning the prestigious Gassman Prize as Best Actor of the previous ten years.
Immediately after his graduation, Guanciale began his career in the theatre, working with renowned director Gigi Proietti on Romeo e Giulietta, the inaugural show of the Silvano Toti Globe Theatre in Rome. This marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration with Proietti, who would later direct him in the play Fontamara.
Guanciale's theatre work soon gained momentum, as he started to collaborate with other prominent names in Italian theatre, including Luca Ronconi, Walter Le Moli, Massimo Popolizio, and Michele Placido. His work with Placido, in particular, led to his being cast as Nunzio in the award-winning film Angel of Evil (2010).
In addition to his theatre work, Guanciale has also taught theatre classes and workshops in middle schools, high schools, and universities since 2005. He made his film debut in 2008, playing the iconic role of Mozart in Io, Don Giovanni (2009) directed by Carlos Saura.
Guanciale's film career has been marked by a wide range of roles, including The Front Line (2009),Vallanzasca (2011),The Jewel (2011),My Tomorrow (2011),and Il segreto dell'acqua (2011). He has also appeared in several notable films, such as To Rome with Love (2012),La scoperta dell'alba (2012),Wondrous Boccaccio (2015),Un'avventura romantica (2016),Preghiera per la vita (2020),Lectura Ovidii (2019),and Un marziano di nome Ennio (2022).
Guanciale's work on television has also been highly successful, with notable roles in shows like The Family (2012),The Lady with the Black Veil (2015),The Good Apprentice (2016),The Red Door (2017),Inspector Ricciardi (2021),and Noi (2022),the Italian adaptation of the American series This Is Us (2016).
