Born and raised on the East Coast of Canada, Lisa Rose began her career in front of the camera. Lisa Rose's transition to writing and directing began with her acceptance into the AFCOOP FILM5 program in 2013. She wrote and directed her first short film, Two Penny Road Kill, which went on to win several awards, including Best Canadian Short at the Silver Wave Film Festival and Best Juried Short at the Parrsboro Film Festival. Her subsequent short film, When Fish Fly, won the NSI Drama Prize and had a strong international festival showing, including a screening at TIFF Kids.
Lisa Rose moved to Toronto to participate in the Canadian Film Centre's Cineplex Screenwriting Program and began to focus primarily on writing and directing. She has been a part of the writing room for major networks, including Netflix, ABC, CBC, and HBO Max, and has directed episodes for BBC Kids, PBS, Amazon Prime, Makeful, and Emmy-winning shows such as Odd Squad and Dino Dana.
Lisa Rose has received numerous accolades for her work, including being named one of Canada's top 3 emerging female directors by Women In View in 2017. Her writing won the Telefilm New Voices Award in 2018, and she received a WIFT Award for Women Making Waves. She has also directed Lockdown, a YouTube Studios project that has received over 1 million views.
In recent years, Lisa Rose has continued to make a name for herself in the industry. She directed season two of Odd Tube, which won the Kidscreen Award for Best Web Series - Branded in 2021. She is currently working on a new half-hour fantasy/comedy for Netflix and has an original feature film and limited series book adaptation in development. Despite her success, Lisa Rose remains committed to her craft and continues to live and create in Toronto, often shooting on location around the world.
