Person Biography:
Lisa Whelchel was born on May 29, 1963, in Littlefield, Texas, USA. She is the daughter of James "Jimmy" and Virginia "Genny" Whelchel, who divorced in 1981. Her mother later married Roy Coleman in 1983.
Lisa grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and discovered her passion for acting at the age of 8. She performed in musical theater for four years before becoming a born-again Christian at 10. She devoted her life to her Christian faith and wrote to Disney Studios at 12, asking for an audition as a Mouseketeer on The New Mickey Mouse Club. She moved to California the following year and appeared on the show from 1977 to 1978.
Lisa's breakout role came when she was cast as Blair Warner on The Facts of Life in 1979. The show ran for nine years, and she appeared in the final regular episode in 1988. She reprised her role in the 2001 made-for-television movie, The Facts of Life Reunion.
In addition to her acting career, Lisa is a singer-songwriter, author, and speaker. She released a Christian pop album, "All Because of You," in 1984, which earned her a Grammy nomination the following year. She has written several books, including "Creative Correction," "So You're Thinking About Homeschooling," and "The Facts of Life (and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me."
Lisa has been married to Steven Cauble since 1988 and has three children with him. She officially divorced him in 2012 after 23 years of marriage. In 2012, she appeared on the 25th season of Survivor, where she won the fan-voted Sprint Player of the Season award and the prize money of $100,000.
Lisa has continued to work in television, co-hosting The Jeff Probst Show from 2012 to 2013. She has also made appearances on other TV shows, including The Talk and The Jeff Probst Show.
