Actress, writer, and producer Lauren Swickard has had a remarkable career, with multiple original screenplays written and sold, despite being relatively short. She recently created, wrote, produced, and starred in A California Christmas, one of the few feature films to start and complete production during the pandemic. The film is currently in post-production and is scheduled for a broad release on Netflix in December 2020.
Lauren's most recent project is lead writer and producer for Casa Grande, an episodic series she created, set to be distributed in January 2021. The narrative explores the dramatic truths surrounding the allure of the United States to immigrants and showcases the human spirit's capacity to endure in pursuit of the American dream.
Born in Cincinnati, Lauren's artistic talent emerged at a young age. She developed her skills through her early years in musical theatre, pre-professional ballet, and studies at The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. Lauren also attended the prestigious School of American Ballet and performed on the professional stage with the Cincinnati Ballet Company.
With over seven years and 40+ credits of screen acting experience, Lauren has performed roles in feature films, award-winning short films, and television series, both in drama and comedy. She began her professional acting career in high school with a small role on the TV movie "Shelter," working alongside JJ Abrams. Now represented by Powerline Entertainment, she can be seen in Netflix's "Dear White People," "Roped," and numerous projects currently airing on the Lifetime Movie Network, the Syfy channel, and Amazon Prime.
