Louis Arcella was born in Colombia to a half-Colombian, half-Italian father, Guillermo Arcella, and a Colombian mother, Miriam Morales. His father passed away when Louis was just five years old, leaving his mother to work over 12 hours a day as a cook to support their family of seven.
Despite the challenges they faced, Louis's mother encouraged his education, but he eventually dropped out of elementary school before completing it. Growing up in poverty in Bogota, Louis learned to fend for himself, earning extra money by shining shoes, selling candy, and singing in buses.
This determination and passion for singing earned him the nickname "the loco," and he even created characters and brought them to life. However, it was his experience as an "extra" in a movie at the age of 14 that sparked his desire to pursue a career in acting.
After working in Colombian television, Louis realized that the opportunities he sought were in the United States. He found a job as a crew member on a cruise ship and eventually settled in New York City, where he supported himself by working odd jobs while pursuing his dream of becoming an actor.
Despite facing setbacks, including being denied admission to the Lee Strasberg Institute due to his illegal status, Louis persevered and eventually earned his high school certification and a degree in production from The School of Television Arts in New York.
In 2001, Louis was accepted into the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, where he trained in Method the acting technique under the guidance of Lola Cohen and Mauricio Bustamante. His breakthrough role came in 2003 with the film "The Door in the Floor," starring Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger.
Since then, Louis has appeared in a range of films, including "Chavez," "Uncertainty," "Paraiso Travel," and "The Family," as well as television shows such as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "The Blacklist," and "Zero Hour." His versatility and dedication to his craft have earned him critical acclaim and recognition, including the Best Actor award at the Mexico International Film Festival in 2007.
