Biography

Lucas Calzada is a comedy-forward, queer, second-generation Latino actor/writer/director born and raised in Alaska, bringing a unique perspective shaped by his singular upbringing, background in theatre, love of intellectual exploration, and knack for finding humor in the most unexpected places.

Notable film and television credits include "Sugar," an episode of which he executive produced alongside Dylan McDermott, and "What She Said," available on VOD.

On stage, Lucas has had the privilege of premiering "Hamlet: Prince of Cuba" as Horatio, opposite Frankie J Alvarez from the TV series "Looking," with an original Spanish translation by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz, author of "Anna in the Tropics." He has also performed in the musical "Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls" with music by Tony Award-winning composer Mark Hollman, creator of "Urinetown." Lucas has made appearances as a guest actor in live sketch comedy shows at Upright Citizens Brigade, The Ruby, Second City Hollywood, and Acme Comedy Theatre. In 2022, he was selected as a performer finalist for the Nosotros "Ya Tu Sabes Monologue Slam."
