Born and raised on a cattle and bison ranch in the picturesque region of Southern Alberta, MacKenzie's life was always surrounded by the beauty of nature and the harmony of music. From a tender age of four, she began her musical journey by studying piano, violin, and voice, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion.
As a classically trained violinist, MacKenzie's talent and dedication led her to perform as a soloist and chamber musician with various symphonies. Her family, comprising of musicians, played a significant role in shaping her unique sound, and she even toured with a family band, featuring her brother Kalan Porter, the 2004 winner of Canadian Idol.
After years of performing with her family, MacKenzie decided to embark on a solo career, and her hard work paid off when she won the Nashville NorthStar competition in 2011. She has since had the opportunity to share the stage with notable artists such as Kenny Chesney, Doc Walker, Trooper, The Tenors, Gene Simmons, and Prime Minister Harper.
In addition to her music career, MacKenzie is also an accomplished actress, boasting a range of credits in feature films and television productions. She has had the privilege of working alongside renowned actors and actresses, including Patrick Swayze, Carmen Electra, Michael Madsen, Aidan Quinn, Jason Priestley, and Kim Coates.
MacKenzie's impressive achievements have earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the 2010 "Best Actress Award" at the Rosies, the Alberta Film and Television Awards, and a spot on the "Top 11 Talents to Watch" list in British Columbia by BC Living. Currently, she is focused on writing and recording her debut album, with a single set to be released in the fall.
