Maggie Poon, also known as Mei Kei Poon, made her acting debut in the movie 'Spacked Out', where she played the role of "Bean Curd". Interestingly, Maggie had no prior acting experience, and her entry into the film industry was quite unexpected.
Initially, Maggie accompanied her classmates to audition for Milky Way Image, but she didn't participate in the audition herself. However, a staff member noticed her and took her phone number and photos for record-keeping purposes. Despite this, director Lawrence Ah-Mon initially didn't see her as a suitable candidate for the main cast, as he felt she looked too much like a doll and not like an ordinary person.
However, assistant director Four Tse Liu-Shut met Maggie while filming an advertisement before the production of 'Spacked Out'. She impressed Liu-Shut with her portrayal of a rebellious girl, and he showed the advertisement to the director, who agreed with her performance. As a result, Maggie was asked to play the role of "Bean Curd".
After her successful stint in 'Spacked Out', Maggie was approached by director Soi Cheang to play the female lead "May" in the movie 'Diamond Hill'. She then went on to film the horror movie 'Inner Senses', directed by Chi-Leung Law, where she played the role of Cheung Siu Yu. In this movie, Maggie had the opportunity to share scenes with the renowned actor Leslie Cheung.
Maggie's last film was 'SPL', directed by Wilson Yip Wai-Shun, after which she seemed to fade from the public eye.
