Born on August 1st, 1960, in the vibrant city of Greensboro, North Carolina, a place where the warmth of the sun and the charm of its residents would shape the life of a remarkable individual. The child of a dedicated nurse, Betty, and a skilled surgeon, Bill, this person grew up surrounded by the selflessness and expertise that would later influence their own pursuits. Alongside their older brother, Mike, and younger sister, Tara, they attended Grimsley Sr. High, where they would lay the foundation for their future accomplishments.
In 1978, they graduated from high school with a sense of direction, initially aspiring to become a comic book artist. However, their creative ambitions soon shifted towards the world of theater, as they took on the role of Dauntless in the production "Once Upon a Mattress". This early foray into the arts was a precursor to greater things to come, as they went on to receive the esteemed Betty Smith Playwright Award from the Southeastern Theater Conference for their original play "Tomorrow Only Knows" in 1977.
Throughout their teenage years, they were an integral part of several rock bands, honing their skills and developing their passion for music. Upon entering college, they enrolled at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, seeking a degree in Liberal Arts. Despite leaving after just three years, they managed to maintain a remarkable academic record, being a member of the Honor Society and earning a spot on the Dean's List.
Their academic pursuits were put on hold as they pursued a degree from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, which they completed in 1985. Their professional journey began with a stint at The Florida Shakespeare Festival in Miami, Florida, in 1986. This marked the beginning of their film and television work, which would continue in Florida until 1992.
A significant life event took place in 1992, as they welcomed their daughter, Molly, on April 5th. Two years later, they married their wife, Mimi, on October 26th, 1996. Their creative endeavors continued to flourish, as they won several awards for their first short film, "Wishes", in 1996. Their third film, "Hitting Another Man's Girl", would go on to appear in several festivals between 2001 and 2002.
