Mark was born in Bell, California, and spent his formative years in the Inland Empire, where he crossed paths with his future wife, Frances Mae Ferrell, during his high school days. After serving in World War II, Mark and Frances tied the knot, and nine months later, they welcomed their daughter, Teddy, who currently resides in 29 Palms, California.
Following his military stint in Korea, Mark and his family relocated to Eugene, Oregon, where he pursued a journalism major at the University of Oregon. Mark's exceptional trumpet-playing skills and velvety baritone voice naturally led him to the stage. After graduating, he returned to California in 1957 to chase his dreams in the film and television industry.
Mark's personal life was marked by two significant relationships. He was married to Frances until her passing in 1969, and later wed Sibyl Line, with whom he remained until his own death in 1993. Throughout his life, Mark was admired by his colleagues for his exceptional acting skills and kind heart.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mark was deeply committed to supporting his community's youth. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, serving as a DeMolay dad for many years, and he was also involved with the Rainbow Girls and Girl Scouts as his daughter grew up. Mark's love for horseback riding, which he developed during his western film days, eventually gave way to golf as he aged.
As his daughter fondly recalls, Mark was a wonderful man who treated others with respect, love, and kindness. He was an exemplary father, and his family was fortunate to have him in their lives.
