Born in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, this individual spent their formative years engaging in a variety of activities, including participating in sports, gazing through telescopes, and honing their skills as a professional magician. In fact, they held the distinction of being the third-youngest member of the Magic Castle in 1976-77, as part of Dick and Diana Zimmerman's Young Magicians Program.
Their academic pursuits took them to the University of California, Berkeley, where they initially studied astrophysics. However, after completing only two years of the program, they decided to leave and instead focus on writing their first novel, "Travail". This creative endeavor kept them in the Bay Area for an additional two years.
Eventually, in 1981, Mark returned to Santa Monica, where they took on a new role as a trainer at an upscale fitness center. During this time, they continued to write, experimenting with short fiction and screenplays. Some of their screenplays even garnered options, indicating a promising start to their writing career.
In 1983, Mark joined LFP, Inc., where they worked as a writer, eventually rising to the position of Senior Editor on several of their magazines. Unfortunately, their tenure at LFP, Inc. was relatively short-lived, lasting only seven months.
