Martin Richard Whitmarsh, a British businessman of considerable repute, has been at the helm of Aston Martin Performance Technologies as Group CEO since September 21, 2021. Prior to this appointment, Whitmarsh spent a remarkable 25 years (1989-2014) with McLaren, holding various senior positions, including Group Chief Executive Officer, and serving as Formula One Team Principal for six years (2008-2014).
During his tenure at McLaren, Whitmarsh played a pivotal role in expanding the company's business activities beyond its core Formula One focus, spearheading the launch of McLaren Automotive and McLaren Applied Technologies. His leadership was instrumental in the team's success, with over 100 Formula One Grands Prix and multiple Formula One World Championships won under his guidance.
Whitmarsh was also instrumental in the development of several Formula One World Champions, including the illustrious Lewis Hamilton.
