Mat Devine, born Matthew Devine on April 16, is a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of talents. He is most notably recognized for his role as the founder and lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Kill Hannah.
In pursuit of his educational endeavors, Devine initially enrolled at Illinois State University as an English major, where he spent two years honing his skills. However, he later transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film.
On August 16, 2010, Devine made headlines when he was officially announced as the principal cast member for the title role of Grim Hunter, a teenage comic book enthusiast, in the original production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. This opportunity arose when a producer for the show stumbled upon a Kill Hannah CD on the desk of Devine's lawyer, prompting an audition invitation.
Under the direction of Julie Taymor, who co-wrote the book with Glen Berger, the production features music and lyrics penned by Bono and The Edge of U2.
