Matthew James Green, a multifaceted individual, is a comedian, actor, writer, and director, whose remarkable journey began at the University of Cambridge, where he was an undergraduate at Christ's College, Cambridge, studying English, and graduating in 2000.
As a member of the esteemed Footlights, he was part of an illustrious group alongside Richard Ayoade, John Oliver, and John Finnemore, serving as president during his final year, with Finnemore as his trusted vice president. After completing his studies, Green remained at Cambridge to direct the year-end tour and dabbled in screenwriting, before embarking on a comedy career that would take him to new heights.
His foray into stand-up comedy began in 2003, and his talents were soon recognized, as he took second place at the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year in 2005. Later that year, he performed in The Comedy Zone at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, sharing the stage with notable comedians Isy Suttie, Russell Kane, and Mark Olver.
In 2011, Green starred in the one-off BBC Christmas show Lapland, and has since appeared in a wide range of television programs, including Fresh Meat, Cradle To Grave, Casualty, Comedy Showcase, Extras, EastEnders, Comedy Lab, Footballers' Wives, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, and Late Night Mash. His impressive credits also include a role as a BBC Newsreader in the Doctor Who episode The Star Beast.
