Matt's formative years were spent in St. Louis, where he had a profound connection with the city's rougher neighborhoods in East St. Louis. This early exposure had a lasting impact on his life and shaped his future endeavors. At the tender age of 16, Matt made the bold decision to relocate to Atlanta, where he pursued his passion for music by studying guitar at the esteemed Atlanta Institute of Music.
After a year of honing his skills in Atlanta, Matt returned to his hometown of St. Louis at the age of 17 and began teaching guitar to others. His love for music continued to flourish, and in 1992, he made the move to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a studio musician. However, fate had other plans, and Matt found himself venturing into the world of acting and modeling.
He started off by appearing in a Levi's commercial, which ultimately led to him becoming a Levi's model, both in print and on the runway. For the next two years, Matt lived in Europe, where he continued to model. Although he initially enjoyed the experience, he soon grew disenchanted with the profession and decided to focus his attention on acting instead.
Matt's transition to acting was seamless, as he soon landed guest roles in several TV shows, including the popular series "Charmed". His breakthrough role came when he was cast as the vampire Crease in the critically acclaimed film Blade (1998). Since then, he has appeared in numerous films, including two independent films and notable supporting roles in films like The Fast and the Furious (2001) and Blade II (2002).
