Born in Montreal, Matthew initially pursued a career in politics before switching to the arts, where he worked as a writing assistant to the renowned playwright Frederick Douglas Ward.
Matthew's arts education continued at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse Theater School in New York, where he honed his craft from 1991 to 1995. After completing his training, Matthew was hired by the National Theater of the Performing Arts and toured the United States twice, performing in numerous regional theaters and eventually landing a starring role in Hamlet at the Washington Shakespeare Festival.

Matthew's comedic and improv skills have also been showcased in films such as Night At The Museum and Night At The Museum 2: Battle For The Smithsonian, alongside Ben Stiller and Robin Williams. As a director, producer, sponsor, and coach, Matthew has been involved in numerous self-created projects, including made-for-the-web episodics, short films, plays, stage presentations, and scene nights.
