Matt, a West Point graduate and veteran of Desert Storm, has been a professional actor since 1995, showcasing his remarkable versatility in film and television.
With over 27 years of service in the Army, Matt held the rank of colonel and served as a Military Police and Russia Eurasia Foreign Area Officer. He is fluent in the Russian language and has extensive experience in military, diplomatic, and intelligence fields.
Matt's impressive military career included serving with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the Former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. He was the Army Attaché in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, and the Office of Defense Cooperation Chief in Armenia and Moldova.
As a military advisor, Matt worked with the OSCE in Austria and Moldova, monitoring Russian activities in the Joint Consultative Group and the Forum for Security Cooperation. In Chisinau, Moldova, he traveled daily to the breakaway republic of Prinistrovia to report on political, economic, and military developments, aiming to facilitate future reconciliation and merger with Moldova.
Matt also served as the Russian Airborne Brigade liaison for the Stabilization Forces Commander in Bosnia, working with peace-keeping forces from across Europe. His experience in nuclear and conventional arms control is vast, having served as an inspector/monitor for the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty and Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty in Russia.
At the Joint Staff J2, Matt reported on nuclear weapons developments and proliferation directly to the G2, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Secretary of Defense. He is well-versed in inter-agency policy, intelligence reporting, analysis, and collection, as well as political-military analysis, security cooperation, counter-proliferation, and international affairs.
Matt is a devoted father to his four children, Ashley, Gregory, Camryn, and Kirsten.
