Maurice's life journey began in Dublin, Ireland, where he spent his early years, but he later relocated to Northern Ireland's town of Dungannon, where he spent his formative years before returning to Dublin at the age of ten to live with his family.
Maurice's academic pursuits took him to Gonzaga College, Dublin, where he received his secondary education from the Jesuits, and later to the University of Grenoble, where he spent a year studying French. His academic endeavors ultimately led him to enroll at University College Dublin to study law, which in turn qualified him as a solicitor and set him on the path to a career as a lawyer.
For twenty years, Maurice practiced European trade and competition law in Brussels, during which time he founded the law firm Byrne & Associés, which later merged with an international law firm based in the United States. As a partner at the firm, Maurice spent seven years and accumulated thousands of billable hours before deciding to pursue his true calling.
Maurice's desire for a change led him to accept a place at Central School of Speech and Drama, where he indulged his love of Shakespeare by appearing in numerous productions, including Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Hamlet, and Henry V. However, he eventually turned his attention to the screen and has since appeared in various television shows and films.
Recent television credits include the Italian crime series Gomorrah and Angel of Darkness, the sequel to the acclaimed Alienist on Netflix. His recent film credits include Destination: Dewsbury, The Right Bus, and The Loss Adjuster, in which he plays an English vicar, marking the second time he has portrayed a man of the cloth.
