Me Me Lai, a daughter of an English father and a Burmese mother, was born in Burma in 1952. Despite the scarcity of information about her childhood, it is known that she relocated to England during her teenage years and embarked on a career in acting, initially landing minor roles on television and in low-budget British films. One of her earliest notable appearances was in the 1972 film Au Pair Girls.
In 1972, Me Me Lai also appeared in Sacrifice!, a film that marked the beginning of her involvement in the "cannibal" genre, a trend that would continue throughout her career. Her subsequent roles in this genre included the lead female native girl in Ruggero Deodato's Last Cannibal World (1977) and Umberto Lenzi's Eaten Alive! (1980),with her death scene in the former being re-used in the latter.
In addition to her "cannibal" film appearances, Me Me Lai is perhaps most well-known for her role as a Chinese hooker in the Peter Sellers comedy Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978). Throughout the 1980s, she continued to take on various small roles before eventually leaving the film industry.
In recent years, Me Me Lai has revisited her acting past, particularly her involvement in the "cannibal" films, and has appeared at film festivals and conferences across Europe and the US. One such event was Spaghetti Cinema, where she joined Ruggero Deodato in May 2014.
