Michael Grais has made a significant impact in the film industry, with a portfolio that boasts a total gross revenue of over 650 million dollars. His extensive writing and producing credits include a diverse range of genres, from romantic comedies to action thrillers, for renowned producers and directors who have won Academy Awards.
One of his most notable collaborations was with Steven Spielberg, co-writing the massive hit POLTERGEIST. The film's immense success led to a sequel, POLTERGEIST II, which Grais wrote and produced. In 2015, his screenplay for POLTERGEIST was remade into a hit film for MGM.
Grais has also produced another box office success, Stephen King's SLEEPWALKERS, for Columbia Pictures, and co-written COOL WORLD, starring Brad Pitt, Kim Basinger, and Gabriel Byrne, with director Ralph Bakshi for Paramount Pictures.
Michael's work in television includes writing and executive producing the limited series VISITORS FROM THE UNKNOWN for CBS, as well as executive producing the film GREAT BALLS OF FIRE, starring Dennis Quaid, Alec Baldwin, and Winona Ryder, for Orion Pictures. He also co-wrote, produced, and financed the successful MARKED FOR DEATH with Steven Seagal for 20th Century Fox.
In addition to his film and television work, Michael has been involved in various stage productions, including THE IMPERSONAL LIFE, a play written and directed by himself, which premiered in West L.A. He has also directed notable plays such as MANGO TEA by Paul Weitz in L.A., THE DEATH OF REASON by Stephanie Glick in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA by John Patrick Shanley in Berkeley, CA.
Notably, Grais was the show runner for the syndicated series THE IMMORTAL, a supernatural one-hour action series that was filmed in British Columbia and Prague. He was also executive producer of WHO KILLED ATLANTA'S CHILDREN, the highest-rated movie of that year for Showtime.
