Michael Sheasby is a talented actor, renowned for his outstanding performances in notable films and television series. Born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Michael immigrated to Sydney, Australia with his family in 2001.
He pursued his passion for acting by enrolling in the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) in 2006 and graduated in 2010. Following his graduation, Michael kicked off his career on stage, taking on leading roles at the Sydney Opera House, including King Henry in Shakespeare's Henry V and Valentine Coverly in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia.
Michael's transition to screen was marked by his portrayal of Tex Lewis in Mel Gibson's critically acclaimed film "Hacksaw Ridge". He also played the role of Walter Moody in the BBC's television series "The Luminaries" and Aidan Carrol in Jennifer Kent's award-winning film "The Nightingale", which received the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2018 and was selected for the Sundance Film Festival in 2019.
Michael's exceptional performance in "The Nightingale" earned him the Casting Guild of Australia's Rising Star Award in 2018. Furthermore, he was nominated for an AFI/AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for his outstanding work in the same film in 2019.
