Michael Whalley, a graduate of Toi Whakaari: The New Zealand Drama School, has built a successful career in film, theatre, and television in both New Zealand and Australia.
In film, his notable credits include Angelina Jolie's Unbroken, Slow West alongside Michael Fassbender and Ben Mendelsohn, and the lead role in the Australian film The Pretend One.
For television, Michael has appeared in a range of productions, including The Principal on SBS, Channel 7's Wanted, and telefeatures Pirates of the Airwaves, Field Punishment No. 1, and Jean, which received widespread acclaim and won nine awards at the New York Film and Television Festivals.
Internationally, Michael is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Flynn in the US series Legend of the Seeker.
On stage, his theatre credits include Hir at Belvoir, where he won the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor, Threepenny Opera at Malthouse, and Muriel's Wedding at the Sydney Theatre Company, where he played the role of Perry Heslop.
Currently, Michael is starring as Ron Weasley in the Australian production of Harry Potter.
