Mike Watt, a renowned musician, hails from San Pedro, California, where he co-founded the groundbreaking punk rock band Minutemen with D. Boon and George Hurley in 1980. This trio of talented individuals went on to release an impressive 11 albums within a mere six years, while tirelessly touring the globe. Tragedy struck, however, when D. Boon's untimely death in late December 1985 brought the band's illustrious career to a sudden and sorrowful end.
Undeterred, Watt and Hurley joined forces with Ed Crawford to form the band Firehose, which they maintained until their eventual disbandment in 1994. During this period, they released five studio albums, showcasing their musical prowess to the world. In 1995, Watt released his debut solo record, featuring contributions from an array of esteemed musicians, including Nels Cline, Mike D, Flea, Petra Haden, Adam Horovitz, Krist Novoselic, and Stephen Perkins.
Throughout his illustrious career, Watt has collaborated with an astonishing array of extraordinary musicians, while also making appearances in several films directed by the acclaimed artist Raymond Pettibon.
