MJ Dixon, a talented individual, was born in Sunderland, North East England, where his passion for filmmaking first began to take shape. Initially, he started his career as a production assistant on low-budget indie productions in the local film industry. As his aspirations grew, he set his sights on creating his own feature-length films. To hone his skills, Dixon pursued a degree in both filmmaking and screenwriting at the University of Central Lancashire.
In 2004, Dixon founded his own independent production label, Mycho Pictures, which marked the beginning of his journey as a film producer and director. The company's first official feature film, Slasher House, was released in 2010, kicking off a series of successful projects. Dixon has since written and directed nine feature films and numerous shorts, all set within the fictional Mycho Universe. He has also created spin-off series for popular characters, including Cleaver: Killer Clown, Thorn, Jacob the Panda-Headed Killer, and Molly Bannister.
In addition to his work in film, Dixon has directed a growing list of official music videos for renowned artists, such as Michael Schenker of Scorpions and Blaze Bayley of Iron Maiden. He has also had the opportunity to collaborate with legendary figures in the genre, including Nicholas Vince, known for his work on Hellraiser.
In 2019, Dixon announced a new slate of movies set within the Mycho Universe, which includes sequels for Thorn, Cleaver, and other beloved characters. With his extensive experience and impressive portfolio, MJ Dixon is a prominent figure in the world of horror and independent filmmaking.
