Myk Watford's early life was marked by his upbringing in the Muscle Shoals region of northern Alabama. He went on to pursue higher education at the University of Utah, where he studied under the guidance of esteemed professor Kenneth H. Washington. Additionally, he honed his craft at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C.
Watford's extensive television career has spanned numerous cop shows, including recurring roles on "Law & Order: SVU" and appearances on all the "CSI's", ""NCIS's", and every other procedural using acronyms. His impressive list of credits also includes stints on Numb3rs (2005),Bosch (2014),Training Day (2017),The Mentalist (2008),Private Practice (2007),Bones (2005),Breaking Bad (2008),Cold Case (2003),Elementary (2012),Without a Trace (2002),The Closer (2005),True Blood (2008),Justified (2010),Longmire (2012),Lethal Weapon (2016),and Scandal (2012). In 2019, he made his debut as Detective Morelli in Season 3 of HBO's True Detective (2014).
Watford has also appeared in several made-for-TV movies, including the real-life based film New York Prison Break the Seduction of Joyce Mitchell (2017),as well as feature films such as No Country for Old Men (2007),Spider-Man (2002),and Trailer Park of Terror (2008).
Beyond his work in film and television, Watford is a talented stage actor, having appeared in over 100 productions, including Broadway and off-Broadway shows like Take Me Out, Hank Williams: Lost Highway, The Good Negro, and Five By Tenn. Furthermore, he is a skilled musician, leading the popular swamp-rockabilly-revival band Stumpwaller, which has made a name for itself in the Hollywood music scene.
