Mykel Shannon Jenkins was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, to a U.S. Air Force officer, and his family moved frequently during his childhood. He eventually settled in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he graduated from Bonnabel High School and later earned a bachelor's degree from Loyola University.
Mykel's passion for drama and speech & debate began in high school, and he became a household name in New Orleans as the host of the WB38 Kids' Club. After college, he pursued an acting career, landing minor roles in a few films. He also began writing screenplays, including his first, about childhood friends who pull off the greatest art heist.
In 2003, Mykel made the big move to Hollywood, where he studied under renowned teachers and mentors. He has since appeared in numerous TV shows and films, including The CW's Containment, Steppin' Back to Love, A Royal Christmas Ball, Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Mykel has also expanded his opportunities into creative writing and directing, writing, directing, producing, and starring in over six features, including The Gods, The Gods 2: The Dark Side, Two Wolves, and Octopus Pot. He is currently writing The Gods 3 and a series entitled Summer 17.
In addition to his acting and writing career, Mykel is a personal trainer and enjoys training others to maintain a healthy body and mind. He is also a devoted father and husband, and in his free time, he enjoys watching movies, working out, keeping up with his son, cheering for his athletes, bowling, and creative writing.
