Nadeem Soumah is a seasoned professional filmmaker with over two decades of experience in the industry. He received formal training in Canada at York University and Trebas Institute of the Arts, where he honed his skills in filmmaking.
Starting his career in music videos, Nadeem quickly gained recognition for his vibrant storytelling and soon became one of the most sought-after music video directors in Canada. He amassed a library of over 200 videos, showcasing his versatility and creativity.
Eventually, Nadeem made the transition to narrative films, a lifelong ambition of his. He has since directed and written multiple feature films, ranging from independent art house projects to theatrically distributed action crime thrillers and network television films.
Nadeem's debut feature, Searching for Angels, received critical acclaim on the festival circuit, leading to his next project, the commercial crime thriller 6 Ways to Die. The film attracted a star-studded cast, with Vinnie Jones praising the screenplay as "one of the best he's ever read."
Proving his ability to deliver commercial success, Nadeem went on to direct nearly a dozen more pictures through his Los Angeles-based production company, Formula Features. He has continued to impress the industry, with his films garnering domestic and international distribution with companies such as eOne, Lionsgate, and Lifetime.
In addition to his work as a director, Nadeem is also an experienced cinematographer, making him an agile and excellent problem solver. His unique perspectives, shaped by his upbringing in West Africa, his time in France as a student and budding soccer star, and his move to Canada during his formative years, bring a rich and varied flavor to his filmmaking.
Currently, Nadeem is in post-production for Impropriety and is developing a project set to take place in his native country of Guinea. He is committed to growing the nascent film industry in the region and bringing Hollywood-style production values to the area.
