Nicholas Guilak was born in Houston, Texas, and spent his formative years in La Jolla, California. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1991 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, Humanities, and Film from the University of Southern California.
Guilak's passion for the stage led him to pursue further studies in London and Scotland, where he performed in an impressive thirteen different shows, accumulating an astonishing 168 performances. His work in these productions earned him two Fringe First nominations for directing and starring as Aldo Scaliki in John Patrick Shanley's Italian American Reconciliation at the 1994 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Returning to Los Angeles, Guilak earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and received the prestigious Laura Pell's Scholarship for his outstanding achievements in acting.
As a dedicated advocate for the stage, Guilak co-founded the Los Angeles-based non-profit theatre company, Big Dog Little Dog Productions, which was recognized as one of the "Top five not-for-profit theatre companies in Los Angeles" by Bravo in the year 2000.
Throughout his illustrious career, Guilak has had the privilege of playing in over sixty different stage productions worldwide, including The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Glengarry Glen Ross, A Lie of the Mind, Hedda Gabler, Homesteaders, Twelfth Night, The Misanthrope, Three Sisters, The Rover, and Baal, among many others.
In addition to his impressive stage credits, Guilak has also produced and directed over twenty plays, most recently David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross, and has written several screenplays, including Shattered, Parker: A Life Least Expected, and Happiness in New York City.
