Nick was educated at a preparatory school, followed by The Corona Stage School. At a young age, he auditioned for the role of John in The Tomorrow People, which he landed in the early 1970s. Before joining the cast of The Tomorrow People, Nick had appeared in various television productions, including Eagle Rock, a Children's Film Foundation production, and the television series The Flying Swan and Front Page Story. He also appeared in one-off television plays, such as The Connoisseur, directed by Waris Hussein, who is known for his work on the first Doctor Who episode.
In addition to his work on The Tomorrow People, Nick appeared in several other television shows, including Space: 1999, where he played the role of Peter Rockwell in the two-part story, The Bringers of Wonder. He also appeared in the film Adventures of a Private Eye, alongside Jon Pertwee, who played the third incarnation of Doctor Who.
