Initially, she began her journey in the early 1990s, but it was her portrayal of FBI agent Emily Prentiss in the long-running police procedural series "Criminal Minds" that catapulted her to fame. Born in 1969 in Concord, Massachusetts, to Galen Brewster and his wife Hathaway Tew, both of whom were school administrators at Middlesex School, a non-sectarian high school located in Concord. Brewster spent most of her early life in Massachusetts before moving to New York City for her college education, where she studied design at the Parsons School of Design.
During her first year at Parsons, she took on some acting roles, which eventually led her to drop out of design school and pursue acting as a full-time career. In the mid-1990s, Brewster moved to San Francisco to take acting classes and later became the host of the late-night talk show "The Paget Show" at KPIX-TV in 1995.
Her first notable acting role in television was portraying the recurring role of Kathy, an actress and love interest to both Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing, in the fourth season of the popular sitcom "Friends" from 1997 to 1998. Following this role, Brewster began appearing regularly in various films.
