Biography

Pascal Aubier, a celebrated and accomplished filmmaker, embarked upon an extraordinary intellectual odyssey by enrolling in the esteemed Ecole de Langues Orientales in Paris, where he immersed himself in the intricacies of multiple languages, showcasing a remarkable aptitude for linguistic proficiency.

Among the diverse array of languages he studied, he demonstrated a particular fascination with the complexities of Russian, Chinese, Mongolian, Georgian, and Wahilu, a lesser-known tongue spoken in the Pacific island nation of New Caledonia.

As a distinguished assistant director, Aubier had the extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with the renowned French New Wave filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, playing a crucial role in the creation of several iconic films, including "Bande à Part", a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that explored the themes of youth culture and rebellion, as well as "Le Mépris", a critically acclaimed drama that probed the complexities of human relationships, alongside other notable works such as "Pierrot le Fou", a thought-provoking exploration of the human condition, "Masculin Féminin", a pioneering study of the changing social landscape, and "Weekend", a visually stunning and intellectually stimulating film that challenged traditional notions of narrative storytelling.

Aubier's inaugural foray into the realm of direction, the 1970-released "Valparaiso, Valparaiso", served as the catalyst for a remarkable career trajectory that has thus far been marked by the creation of a staggering forty short films.
