Paul A. Kaufman is a British-born filmmaker who has garnered numerous accolades for his television directing and producing work, including multiple Emmy Awards.
Currently, Kaufman is writing, directing, and executive producing the CBS/Paramount+ film "DECK THE HALLS" for 2025.
He made his feature film directing debut with the independent film "BUTTER", which premiered in 300 theaters nationwide and is now available on Amazon Prime. The movie follows the story of Butter, a lonely obese teenager who decides to eat himself to death live on the internet, and the unexpected response he receives from his classmates.
Kaufman's directorial debut on the long-cherished project "Run the Wild Fields" for Showtime earned critical acclaim and an Emmy Award for Best Director. The drama follows a North Carolina woman and her daughter who take in a mysterious drifter to work their farm during WWII.
In addition to his feature film work, Kaufman has directed several television series, including "Ransom" for CBS, "NCIS: Los Angeles", and "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders". He has also directed numerous episodes of the critically acclaimed series "Rogue" for DirecTV.
Kaufman has produced and directed over 70 hours of prime-time television and has had overall producing deals at various networks and studios.
Throughout his career, Kaufman has received numerous nominations and awards for his work, including a Directors Guild of Canada nomination for Best Director and a Canadian Screen Award for Best Television Movie or Miniseries. He has also won an NAACP Award for Best TV Movie or Miniseries and an Imagen Award for Best Television Movie or Miniseries.
As a writer, Kaufman has co-written several made-for-television movies and has produced several critically acclaimed films, including "Jewel", which was nominated for the Humanitas Award.
Kaufman has served on the Board of Governors at The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has supervised the Primetime Emmy Awards. He has also served on the Television Committee at BAFTA and has been a guest speaker at various colleges and institutions.
