Paul Hogan's journey to worldwide success began with his unforgettable comic performance in Crocodile Dundee (1986),a film he not only starred in but also created and co-wrote. This remarkable achievement earned him a prestigious Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, as well as a nomination for Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards.
Before his international breakthrough, Hogan started his acting career in Australian television, playing a recurring role as comic relief on A Current Affair (1971). He then starred in an expanded version of his show, The Paul Hogan Show (1973),which premiered on Australia's Nine Network and quickly catapulted him to the top of the ratings chart.
Hogan's impressive range as an actor was showcased in his dramatic role on the critically acclaimed television series Anzacs (1985),and his efforts in promoting Australia worldwide led to his appointment as "Australian of the Year" and investment into the Order of Australia.
In addition to his work in television, Hogan was the executive producer/writer/star of the feature films Almost an Angel (1990) and Lightning Jack (1994),and he also starred in Flipper (1996) and Floating Away (1998). American audiences will always remember Hogan from his iconic commercials for the Australian Tourist Commission, where he encouraged people to say "g'day" and visit Australia, famously inviting them to "slip another shrimp on the barbie".
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Hogan appeared in commercials for Subaru Outback automobiles. He reprised his legendary role as the outback adventurer in the long-awaited sequel Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001),bringing back the character that first made him a household name.
