PJ Black is a South African professional wrestler who has made a name for himself in the wrestling world, both as Justin Gabriel and Darewolf. Born and trained by his father at a young age, PJ is a second-generation wrestler who debuted at the tender age of 16, competing in events in the United Kingdom and South Africa.
His journey to becoming a professional wrestler was heavily influenced by his admiration for his father, and he soon moved to the United Kingdom to train under the guidance of Alex Shane and Mark Sloan. Competing for the World Wrestling Professionals (WWP),PJ's most notable feuds were against Tornado, Dameon Duke, Mikey Whiplash, and Joe E. Legend, during which he held the World Cruiserweight Champion title for 13 days under the ring name Justin Angel.
In 2008, PJ signed a three-year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE),becoming the first South African in the company. He trained in the company's developmental division, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW),where he won the FCW Heavyweight Championship under the ring name 'Justin Gabriel'. PJ's high-risk, high-entertainment wrestling style quickly made him a fan favorite.
Promoted to the NXT roster in 2011, PJ's exceptional talent led him to join The Nexus, a group that later migrated to the main shows Raw and Smackdown, dominating the competition. After the group disbanded, PJ went on to compete in singles matches and numerous tag teams, during which he won 2 Slammy Awards and 3 Tag Team Titles.
After leaving WWE, PJ adopted the name PJ Black and began making appearances for various independent companies around the world, including TNA, Ring of Honor, and Lucha Underground, where he held the Trios Championship.
