Paul Vogt, a talented actor, began his journey in Hollywood as the breakout star of The Rerun Show in 2002, where he portrayed Mrs. Garrett from "The Facts of Life". This role earned him recognition and led to his becoming a permanent cast member on Mad TV, a successful late-night sketch comedy show on FOX.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Vogt received classical theater training from the State University College at Buffalo, where he worked with Warren Enters and Tom Fontana. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, with a concentration in Directing.
After graduating, Vogt was hired by the Walt Disney Company to perform at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He continued to perform on stage, winning awards for his portrayal of Sam Byck in Stephen Sondheim's musical "Assassins" and for "Greater Tuna". He also received critical acclaim for his work in various theater productions.
Vogt was discovered in Florida and was cast in Barry Sonnenfeld's quirky ABC series Maximum Bob in 1998, starring Beau Bridges. He later moved to Burbank and was cast by Garry Marshall in "Happy Days: the musical" at the Falcon Theatre.
Garry Marshall continued to cast Vogt in various productions, including The Rerun Show and Mad TV. He also appeared in several films, including Raising Helen and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Vogt's voice can be heard in several animated films, including Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch.
In addition to his acting career, Vogt has hosted several awards shows, including the 2003 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards with the cast of Mad TV. He has also appeared in several television shows, including Chicago Hope, In-Laws, and Arrested Development.
Paul Vogt made his Broadway debut in "Hairspray!" the musical as Edna Turnblad on January 30, 2007, alongside Jere Burns.
