Alongside co-writing a pilot for a historical drama series titled Bellum, she wrote, produced, and co-starred in the award-winning action-comedy short film Are You My Mommy. This film premiered at the 2018 Dances With Films Festival in Hollywood and went on to have a successful festival run through 2021, earning several accolades, including Best Comedy at the Artemis Women In Action Film Festival, The People's Choice Award at the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival, and Best Actress in the Independent Shorts Awards.
Currently, Paula Jean is based in Los Angeles and is working on producing her first feature film script, Big Picture, a comedic drama that follows an artist-turned-house painter who is on the verge of burnout and must confront her emotional demons when she forms a relationship with a disabled podcaster.
