Peter Hook, a renowned English musician, is most notably recognized as the co-founder and bassist of the influential rock bands Joy Division and New Order. As a pioneering musician, Hook has consistently pushed the boundaries of his instrument, utilizing the bass as a lead instrument, and expertly playing melodies on the high strings with a signature heavy chorus effect. In New Order, Hook would often focus on playing melodic lines, while delegating the actual basslines to keyboards or sequencers. Hook's musical journey began in 1976 when he co-founded Joy Division alongside Bernard Sumner. Following the tragic death of lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980, the band reformed as New Order, and Hook remained an integral part of the group until 2007.
Throughout his illustrious career, Hook has also been involved in various side projects, including the formation of Revenge, where he released the album "One True Passion". He has also collaborated with Monaco, releasing two albums, "Music for Pleasure" and "Monaco", and served as the bassist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist. Furthermore, Hook has released an album with Freebass, titled "It's a Beautiful Life". Currently, Hook is the lead singer and bassist for Peter Hook and the Light, continuing to share his unique musical talents with audiences worldwide.
