Peter Mensah's journey in martial arts began at the tender age of six, as he grew up in the charming town of St. Albans, situated just north of London, England. Prior to his transition into the world of martial arts, Mensah pursued a career as an engineer, working for British Gas, where he played a pivotal role in developing gas fields at Morecambe Bay. Additionally, he had a passion for theatre, which he explored during his school days.
Born into an academic family, Mensah's father, an architect, relocated with his mother to their native Ghana, where Mensah's roots run deep. He is the eldest of three sisters, with two younger siblings. The decision to leave Britain was not taken lightly, as Mensah sought to broaden his horizons and experience the world beyond his homeland. Canada and Australia were both viable options, but fate intervened, and the paperwork for Canada arrived first, ultimately determining his destination.
