Peter Scanavino is a talented actor, best recognized for his portrayal of Assistant District Attorney Sonny Carisi Jr. on the long-running NBC drama series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
In addition to his notable television work, Scanavino has appeared in a range of other TV shows and films, including Social Distance on Netflix, The Cold Lands, Mutual Friends, The Leftovers on HBO, Banshee on CINEMAX, and The Good Wife on CBS.
Prior to his successful acting career, Scanavino made his Broadway debut in 2006, starring in the Tony-nominated play Shining City, directed by the renowned Robert Falls. His other notable theater credits include Boys' Life, Suburbia, Rainbow Kiss, and Yellow Face, a play written by David Henry Hwang.
In 2010, Scanavino took a break from acting to pursue his passion for cooking, enrolling in the Culinary Arts program at The French Culinary Institute in New York City. He briefly worked in the kitchen of Dan Barber's Michelin-starred restaurant, Blue Hill, in Greenwich Village.
Today, Scanavino resides in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife and children.
