Philip Pope's biography:
Philip Pope graduated from New College, Oxford in 1979 and went on to have a long and varied career composing for film, television, and radio. He is best known for his work on popular British programs such as Spitting Image, The Fast Show, Not the Nine O'Clock News, Who Dares Wins, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Dame Edna Kisses It Better, and Outnumbered.
Philip started his career as a radio star, co-hosting the long-running show Radio Active with Angus Deayton and Geoffrey Perkins, for which he also composed the music. The show later evolved into KYTV for the BBC. In 1980, Philip co-wrote the hit single "Meaningless Songs" with Richard Curtis.
Philip has had a long-standing collaboration with comedian and actor Harry Enfield, composing music for numerous productions starring Enfield, including "Kevin and Perry Go large", "Ruddy Hell! It's Harry and Paul", "Harry and Paul: History of the 2s", and "An Evening with Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse". He has also worked with Paul Whitehouse on all three series of The Fast Show, composing the featured music, including Jazz Club.
Philip has composed the main themes for several beloved British programs, including Round the Bend, A bit of Fry and Laurie, My Hero, Outnumbered, and all 10 seasons of Whose Line Is It Anyway?. He has also worked on popular BBC children's programs, such as Words and Pictures, Fimbles, and The Roly Mo Show, as well as Sky's Yonderland.
In 2004, Philip appeared in the radio episode "Fit the Fifteenth" of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as one of three aliens from the planet of Krikkit, and reprised the role as Elvis Presley in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. He has also worked on two live stage productions of the show.
Philip has recently provided music for the political comedy Ballot Monkeys and its sequel Power Monkeys, as well as the BBC's The Life of Rock with Brian Pern, in which he also starred as drummer Mike Phillips.
