Phillip Montgomery, a filmmaker based in Los Angeles, hails from Minnesota, and holds a degree in film studies from the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Montgomery's directing career has been marked by numerous accolades, including award-winning films, television, music videos, and commercials for prominent brands such as Jack Daniel's, Guinness, Walmart, GE, IBM, and more.
In 2018, he made his television debut as the second-unit director for the CBS drama ONE DOLLAR, and received the Cannes Silver and Bronze Lions for his commercial work with the 60th Anniversary Grammy Awards.
That same year, his critically acclaimed short dance/horror film CHILD OF THE SKY had a busy festival run, premiering at the 2018 New York Film Festival.
In 2013, Montgomery earned a place in SHOOT MAGAZINE's prestigious New Directors Showcase and the Cannes 2013 New Director Award for his documentary work with the 2012 Olympic Games for P&G.
Later that year, his film TODAY, a documentary short about a man who learns to find meaning in his life's work after a tragic accident, was honored with the Special Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival.
Montgomery's feature documentary film debut, #ReGENERATION, explored the state of activism in today's youth, and was narrated by Academy-Award-Winner Ryan Gosling. The film won Best FutureWave Feature (The Youth Jury Award) at the Seattle International Film Festival, and was released theatrically in over 12 cities in May 2012.
