Pierre is a Dora Award-nominated and Rideau award-winning professional bilingual actor who has been delighting audiences in both official languages of Canada for over 20 years. As a very busy stage and screen actor across the country, Pierre's charm has captivated audiences in both English and French.
Born in Welland, Ontario, Pierre is the proud son of public school teachers Clara and Stewart Simpson. He is a graduate of the University of Ottawa's bilingual Theatre Department.
Pierre's film credits include Rosie, which was featured in Canada's Top Ten at TIFF, as well as Last Patrol, The Rarebit Fiend, and Let the Daylight into the Swamp, which was produced by the National Film Board and screened at TIFF.
On television, Pierre has appeared in a wide range of shows, including Three Pines on Amazon, Transplant and Hannibal on NBC, Paris Paris, The Detectives, Murdoch Mysteries, The Border on CBC, 12 Monkeys, Fugitive at 17 on Showcase, Reign, Nikita on CW, Makinium, Mehdi&Val, Motel Monstre on Radio-Canada, Météo+, and Le Rêve de Champlain on TFO. He has also appeared in numerous bilingual training videos and hosted live events.
Pierre's skilled voice work has been featured in a variety of projects, including Red Ketchup on Adult Swim and Télétoon, Globies, Let's Go Luna! on PBS, and Hyper Scape on Ubisoft.
In English theatre, Pierre has appeared in productions such as A Midsummer Night's Dream at Canadian Stage, When it Rains on a 2b theatre International Tour that played in Edinburgh and Mumbai, Strawberries in January at the Great Canadian Theatre Company, It's A Wonderful Life at Theatre New Brunswick, The Bookshop, a reading of Look Back in Anger at the National Arts Centre, Dangerous Liaisons at Third Wall Theatre, and A Thought in Three Parts at SummerWorks.
In French theatre, Pierre has appeared in productions such as La Cantatrice chauve, Dom Juan, Les Médecins de Molière, which earned him a Rideau Award and a Dora Award nomination for Outstanding Performance, L'Emmerdeur, Le Dîner de Cons, and Le Misanthrope at Théâtre français de Toronto. He has also adapted and directed La plus grosse poutine du monde and Les Zinspirés 1, 2.0, and 3D, which earned him nominations for the Pauline McGibbon and John Hirsch Awards for Emerging Directors.
