Pilou Asbæk, a talented Danish actor, marked the beginning of his illustrious career by graduating from The Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2008.
That same year, he took on the leading role in Niels Arden Oplev's drama Worlds Apart, showcasing his acting prowess from the very start.
In 2010, he achieved a major breakthrough by playing the inmate Rune in Lindholm & Noer's prison drama R, which earned him widespread recognition and accolades. His outstanding performance won him the prize for Best Actor at The Danish Critic Association Award, Bodil, and at the Danish Film Academy Awards, Robert.
In 2011, he was honored as a Shooting Star at the Berlinale, an elite group of ten European actors handpicked for their exceptional talent.
For three years, Pilou starred as Kasper Juul, the spin doctor for the Danish Prime Minister, in the critically acclaimed television series Borgen, which won the prestigious BAFTA award.
Following his success in Borgen, Pilou took on leading roles in Tobias Lindholm's A Hijacking and A War, with the latter being nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards in 2015.
In 2014, he appeared in Luc-Besson's LUCY, starring alongside Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman.
The following year, Pilou played Pontius Pilate in Timur Bekmambetov's BEN-HUR.
In 2017, he starred opposite Scarlett Johansson once again, this time in Rupert Sander's Ghost in the Shell, playing the role of Batou.
Pilou's most recent notable role was as Euron Greyjoy in the 6th and 7th seasons of HBO's acclaimed series Game of Thrones.
