Ralph Kretschmar, a renowned German Film Academy actor, hails from Berlin, East Germany. He received his education from the prestigious "Pierre de Coubertin" college in Berlin, which is renowned for its excellent physical education programs in Germany. Prior to embarking on his acting career, Kretschmar was a competitive swimmer and later a professional basketball player.
Kretschmar's acting career began with appearances in numerous popular German films and television shows. His breakthrough role came in 2004 when he landed a significant part in the acclaimed German crime series "Coast Guard." He went on to star in nearly 70 episodes, which were broadcast across Europe.
In 2008, Kretschmar made the decision to leave the "Coast Guard" series and pursued other opportunities. He then took on the challenging role of an LSD and cocaine addict in the film "Little Paris." He also appeared as a basketball star in the film "Hangtime," which was produced by Sönke Wortmann.
Kretschmar's impressive performance in "Little Paris" was followed by his portrayal of a lost student in the Oscar-nominated feature film "The Baader Meinhof Complex" in 2008. The following year, he landed the part of Streetdancer Martin in the feature film "You Got Served: Beat the World," which was written by Robert Adetuyi, the writer of "Stomp the Yard."
Most recently, Kretschmar was signed by US Director Matthew Mishory to appear in his upcoming feature film "Portland." In this film, Kretschmar will play the rough and edgy role of 25-year-old Stark.
