Biography

Ramon Sison, a multifaceted individual, was born and raised in a small town in the Philippines.

From an early age, he showcased exceptional talents in dancing and music.

His parents, Florentina and Salustiano Sison, were conservative landowners with significant landholdings, who initially encouraged him to pursue a medical career, but were reluctant to support his aspirations in the entertainment industry.

Despite his parents' wishes, Ramon could not resist the opportunity to act in a movie and later, he was offered roles in radio and television programs while attending the University of the Philippines pre-med and medical school in Manila.

After obtaining his medical degree in 1955, he pursued post-doctoral specialization at Georgetown University.

He then practiced medicine in the mid-West for nine years, where he not only honed his medical skills but also developed a passion for music.

During his time in Illinois, he played the piano in a jazz band with medical colleagues in Springfield and also played the double bass with the conservatory symphony of MacMurray College in Jacksonville.

In 1976, Ramon found himself unexpectedly playing the role of a medical officer opposite Gregory Peck in a hospital scene of "MacArthur".

Since then, he has appeared in numerous movie, TV, and equity-waiver stage productions in Hollywood.

Throughout his career, Ramon has been actively involved in various community, civic, and professional organizations in Southern California.

He has served as the president or member of numerous organizations, including the Philippine Medical Association of Southern California, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Southern California, and the Association of Asian Pacific American Artists.

Ramon has also served the State of California for six years as a member of the California Medical Board, appointed by then Governor Jerry Brown.

In addition, he has served the federal government as a reserve army medical officer for sixteen years, rising to the rank of full Colonel.

In 1991, he was knighted "Chevalier De Grace" into the Ordre Supreme Militaire Imperial Orthodox Constantinien De Saint-Georges in Tarragona, Spain.

Ramon is a lifetime member of Mensa, a prestigious organization for individuals with high intelligence.
