Rebecca was born on October 21st, 1965, in Bristol, England, and spent her formative years in North Wales, where she developed a passion for the stage thanks to her supportive parents. Her father, an actor himself, often brought fellow thespians to their home, exposing Rebecca to the world of theatre from a young age.
As she approached her sixteenth birthday, Rebecca made the bold decision to leave home and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional actress. She enrolled in Theatre Studies at Stratford-on-Avon, where she was fortunate to be mentored by the esteemed Gordon Vallins. Vallins recognized Rebecca's potential and encouraged her to attend drama school at the age of eighteen.
Upon graduating, Rebecca launched her theatrical career, taking on a variety of roles, including Lady Anne in 'Richard III' and Gwendolen in 'The Importance of Being Earnest' at the Derby Playhouse. Her performances garnered attention, and she was soon cast alongside Robert Lindsay in the London production of 'Cyrano de Bergerac' from 1992 to 1993. It was during this production that Rebecca met and later married fellow cast member Bob Barrett, with whom she shares two daughters. The elder of their two daughters has followed in her parents' footsteps by enrolling in drama school.
In 2015, Rebecca joined the cast of Florian Zeller's 'The Father' at the Theatre Royal, Bath, and later transferred the production to London, where it received critical acclaim. Rebecca's television debut came in 1995, and she has since appeared in a range of popular series, including 'Foyle's War', 'Midsomer Murders', and 'Casualty'. Interestingly, although she has worked alongside her husband Bob in the same show, they have never appeared in the same episode together.
