Rich's life story unfolded on February 15, 1956, at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base, where he took his very first breath as an only child, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. Growing up in the picturesque town of Lakewood, California, he attended local schools, with occasional visits to the prestigious military academy situated on Signal Hill, providing a unique blend of academic and military exposure. Upon completing his high school education, he embarked on a new chapter at California State University, Fullerton, where he further developed his intellectual horizons.
Following his academic pursuits, Rich dedicated himself to honing his acting skills under the guidance of esteemed instructors James Best, Jack Lucarelli, and Brenda Hillhouse at the James Best Theater Center, laying the foundation for a successful career in the performing arts. His artistic journey continued as he later studied with the accomplished Peggy Feury and Bill Traylor at the renowned Loft Theater, further refining his craft.
In 1985, Rich exchanged vows with his loving wife, Lori Turner, and together they welcomed three children and, subsequently, three grandchildren into their family, creating a loving and supportive environment that has been a constant source of joy and inspiration throughout his life.
