After his military service, Colbert worked as a disc jockey on a local radio station and later tried out for a stage production of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, which sparked his interest in acting. After five years with Warner Brothers, Colbert was released from his contract and went on to appear in several other TV shows, including The Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, and Mannix.
Colbert continued to work in television and film throughout his career, appearing in shows such as The Young and the Restless, Frasier, and Baywatch. He retired from acting in 1995 and now makes appearances at science fiction and western conventions across America.
